The Promise
Only in darkness
I can see light brightness,
Only in mud
I can find a lotus bud
Only through defilements
I can feel Buddha’s compassion
How far can we think
Without his name
How much can we achieve
Without his pain
I take the truth to heart
And make a holy mark
The Prince of the Shakyas
Who proves the path of Dharma
Deceptive appearances are Karma
No emotion, just peace,
No awareness, just ignorance at risk,
No anxiety, just serenity,
No weakness, just good abilities,
No fear, just tranquillity.
From this day is my calling
Not to abandon all living beings
May I free all from limitations.
To be liberated from illusions.
And be a Buddha in time
with no more confusion.
